Bridport Medical Centre's next vaccinating session will be on Friday when clinically extremely vulnerable patients will receive a vaccine.

Residents are again urged to avoid the area and keep it clear for those attending the clinic.

Once these patients have been booked, the team at the medical centre will move to invite patients aged 70 to 75. Patients who have received notification they are in the clinically extremely vulnerable cohort can also call their surgery to book. Patients aged 70 to 75 should wait to receive an invitation before booking.

The team would also like to make the public aware of a scam email doing the rounds with a supposed link to book a vaccine.

A spokesman for Bridport Medical Centre (BMC) said: "We are planning to send some invites via SMS as well as by phone. The SMS will have a link to book - please be aware that we would never ask for payment details.

"As before, high volume sessions pose a huge logistical challenge both within the medical centre, but also with car parking at the centre and traffic in surrounding roads. People attending are advised to please plan ahead."

Those attending should arrive no earlier than five minutes prior to their appointment time.

Parking onsite will be strictly limited to those with severe mobility issues who would not otherwise be able to get to the centre. Those attending for vaccination should use the car parks in and around the town centre and walk to BMC minimise traffic around the medical centre.

The spokesman added: "We appreciate attending BMC may be more challenging for those who are clinically extremely vulnerable but ask that they consider being dropped off at the surgery with their driver then able to make use of the allocated parking to wait, prior to collection."

Dorset Council has allocated additional car parking spaces for those attending for Covid-19 vaccinations at the West Street/bus station car park. There will be no charge for patients attending the centre for vaccinations. Marshals will be available to direct walkers to the centre.

For those dropping and picking up patients, the estimated time for collection will be around 30 minutes from drop off time.

The spokesman said: "The vaccinating teams and marshals will do everything they can to minimise wait times, but queues do sometimes spill outside. Some rain is forecast and patients are asked to wear suitable clothing and footwear to prepare against cold and wet weather.

"Please avoid West Allington and West Road as queuing traffic is expected. The team will do its best to keep things moving but request that anyone local to please avoid the area on these days."
