Bridport: April Fools! Did you fall for any of these pranks?

By Lottie Welch 7th Apr 2022

April 1, April Fools' Day - the day we look forward to to joke and prank others.

Some may have been unaware and wondered why there had been an influx in unusual news, new products or announcements on their social media.

But many local groups, charities and organisations have got in on the joke. From train stations opening and a new water park on a museum to elephants grazing on a West Dorset field and a school introducing a hair academy for pupils to make money for the school - there have been some great ideas.

Here are some of our favourites we have seen - did you fall for any?

Shire Hall Historic Courthouse Museum

The museum announced it would be undergoing redevelopment to open as 'The Shire Museum', dedicated to exploring and discussing the lives of hobbits.

West Beach Café

The West Bay café announced that chef Gordon Ramsay would be cooking up a range of specials for them on April 31.

Keep Military Museum

The team were pleased to announce that there is now a waterslide park on the roof - included in the price of admission.

Coppet Hill

The West Dorset campsite was thrilled to have three young elephants from Longleat Zoo to help graze down the camping field ahead of summer.

The Prince of Wales School

The 'Hair Academy - Shoreditch' has expanded to the school to help pupils learn an important life skill and start generating some much-needed income for the school budget.

Wyld Morris

Wyld Morris enjoyed taking part in the reopening of West Bay train station and even made a video - you can see it on its Twitter page.

Brewery Square

The iconic horse has been damaged with cracks appearing in its side. A statement reassured us he was stable but to pet with caution.

DarkBear

The cocktail company announced a new mocktail with hints of sea spray, sunshine and a lot of wind. Bartenders had an interesting way of creating the new drink, which is best served after 11 and a half minutes of being chilled and poured anticlockwise.

Dorset Search and Rescue

DorSAR has an innovative new way of calling volunteers for searches - the SAR Signal

The Market House

The Bridport pub welcomes a new celebrity at the helm - but who could it be?
