On Saturdays up until Christmas, there will be a special Christmas market in Barrack Street.

Supported by developers McCarthy Stone, they will be held from 9am to 3pm.

On Saturday, December 11, there will be a Christmas food and makers market and on Saturday, December 18, there will be a vegan and arts and crafts market.

Verity McKay, divisional marketing manager at McCarthy Stone Southern, which is developing retirement complex Gordon Court in Bridport, said: "At McCarthy Stone we aim to support initiatives in the towns and communities in which we build that will help create a lasting, positive legacy, such as the Bridport Christmas Cheer events.

"It is our pleasure to support this brilliant work within the local community."

Every Saturday on Bucky Doo Square there will be entertainment and music, as well as a visit from Santa on his sleigh.

Terri Foxwell, Christmas Cheer organiser, said: "We want you all to have a fantastic Christmas so please remember when shopping to wear a mask, use the hand sanitisers and, where possible, remember the 2m rule."
