The hugely popular Bridport Food and Beer Festival is coming back this year.

Bridport Local Food Group and Bridport Round Table are bringing back the summer festival to Asker Meadows on Friday, June 17 and Saturday, June 18.

The event is the focal point for the Bridport Food Festival fortnight, which will be running from Sunday, June 12 to Friday, June 24 to celebrate everything delicious in the Bridport area. During the fortnight there is a range of events being planned with local food producers, growers, farmers, cafes, restaurants, bars and vendors being invited to showcase what they do. Hands-on cooking sessions for local schools are being organised, as well as more foodie-based entertainment.

Kathy Green, Bridport Local Food Group chairman, said: "We want this year's festival to be a real celebration for everyone. Our aim has always been to get the community and visitors trying, tasting and talking about the amazing range of food and drink that we have on our doorstep.

"The last two years living through the pandemic has helped to remind us all how important local food is to the community. Our independent businesses, shops, restaurants, traders, caterers have excelled and been the envy of many, providing us with high quality, reliable local food.

"We see it as the festival's role to not only showcase our fantastic local food and the passion of the people who produce it but also to encourage the community as a whole to eat healthily and sustainably by choosing local.

"We have chosen 'reducing food waste' as our overall theme for the festival this year, and will be actively sharing ways in which we can all reduce the massive amount of waste in the food system and ultimately help fight climate change."
