Residents and shop owners are being encouraged to share their views on shopping in the town centre.

Bridport Town Centre Health Check 2021 is being undertaken by the town council and repeats a similar survey undertaken in 2019.

The survey runs through to October 19 and includes footfall counts, surveys of shoppers and retailers and an audit of products and services on offer in the centre of Bridport.

The 2021 survey includes questions on the impact on the ongoing pandemic, with 40 per cent of shoppers already reporting doing more online shopping, with 38 per cent reporting fewer visits to the town centre as a consequence.

Retailers, so far, are reflecting a positive retail environment in the town, with 72 per cent reporting being back to 2019 levels of trading.

One shopper commented:

"I can find pretty much everything for my everyday needs and only buy clothes online. It was great to see the local shops rise to the challenges of lockdown - most of the immediately set up a delivery service and everyone has been unfailingly friendly throughout. Well done Bridport."

The surveys can be found here:

Bridport Town Council will complete a report on the 2021 health check for consideration by the town centre working group in November.
