This weekend and next, residents are being invited into Bridport homes to be inspired to live a greener lifestyle.

For the first year, Transition Town Bridport has partnered with Dorset Climate Action Network to cover all of Dorset.

More than 50 homes will be open across the county on the weekend of September 25 and 26 and October 2 and 3, including a number in the Bridport area.

A spokesman for the event said: "With wholesale gas prices at over four times their level at the beginning of the year, many people are predicting a winter of discontent, three-day week and a soaring number of people in fuel poverty.

"Visitors to these homes will get hints, expertise and inspiration on how we can use less energy, saving money and reducing greenhouse gases."

The houses fall into three styles:

• Using less energy by a sustainable lifestyle - growing veg, turning down the thermostat, biking and walking

• Fitting more insulation in the house, draughts and secondary double glazing

• Installing low energy devices - PV solar panels and thermal solar panels, heat pumps, mechanical ventilation, home batteries and electric car chargers

Some homes have to be booked in advance, others the public are invited to just turn up.
