Bridport indoor skate park celebrates a year this weekend
Bridport's indoor skate park is celebrating being open a year with a free session and refreshments.
2020 Skate and Ride opened on August 1, four years after the former Trick Factory indoor skate park closed. Construction began in February 2020 but the Coronavirus pandemic and lockdown caused uncertainty for an opening date.
One year on and the place is established and running a weekly timetable and is open to a wide range of users - skateboarding, BMX inline/quad/roller skates and scooters.
The park features ramps to cater for all abilities and a viewing and café area.
Booking can be done through the 2020 Skate and Ride Facebook page, but a dedicated website for features, updates and bookings will be launched soon.
Rob Ridge, who runs the facility, said: "Like many facilities that had to close for the lockdowns, it has proved challenging, so looking to the next year we hope we don't lose months at a time having to close again.
"This Sunday we are having an open day for anyone to visit the facility, view it and try it out if they wish. It runs from 10am to 4pm with some free refreshments.
"It is also hoped we may see a further uptake of users being inspires from the attention and coverage of skateboarding and BMX racing and freestyle in the Tokyo Olympics."
