Bridport Leisure Centre is offering £1 fitness suite and swimming sessions for World Cancer Day

Bridport Leisure Centre will be marking World Cancer Day with £1 deals.

World Cancer Day takes place on Friday, February 4 when all fitness suite sessions, lane swimming and general swimming sessions can be booked for only £1. Staff are asking that people make a donation to charity on the day. There will also be a charity Aqua Fit session taken by instructor Rachel.

Refreshments will also be available throughout the day from 10am for a donation

Funds raised on the day will be split between local cancer charities, Stepping Out, The Living Tree and Ducks & Drakes Cancer Trust.

Stepping Out and The Living Tree both hold fitness and wellbeing sessions at Bridport Leisure Centre. Stepping Out helps members with their recovery during and after their cancer diagnosis with a group exercise and wellbeing scheme. The Living Tree is a self-help support group for people who have experienced cancer and for their families or carers.

Ducks & Drakes Cancer Trust is based in Dorchester and supports bowel cancer patients and their families in Dorset and UK, providing specialist medical equipment and financial aid. Ducks & Drakes was founded to help save lives and promote wellbeing by raising awareness of cancer in young people aged 18 to 30.

A spokesman for Bridport Leisure Centre said: "All three of these amazing cancer charities provide vital support to our community and Bridport Leisure Centre hope that by reducing the cost of their sessions, people will be generous with their charitable contributions."

Sessions can be booked by calling 01308 427464.
