A drop-in session to find out more about plans for a 'traffic-free trail' between Chideock and Bridport will be held next month.

Chideock resident Winston Maskell is working on a project to make a safe route for cyclists and walkers between the two. He has been in talks with Symondsbury and Chideock parish councils.

He has received support from residents and visitors and is now inviting everyone to see the project documents before they are formally given to Dorset Council.

These will include references to past, failed projects and other relevant information, the possible routes for the trail and the pros and cons for each and a compilation of the emails and letters received supporting the project, or not.

The drop-in session will be held on Saturday, February 26 from 10am to 1pm at The George in Chideock.

Mr Maskell said: "I thank all of you who have written emails/letters supporting the project and the response was excellent.

"I know there are some that I have spoken to recently who were, vocally, very supportive and said they would write in, but I have not received anything from those persons yet.

"If you support this and have not written/emailed yet, please, please, please do so ASAP. If it can be shown that this traffic-free trial has the support of the village, its neighbours and visitors alike, Dorset Council is more likely to allocate time to discuss it."

There is now a dedicated Facebook page for the project - Chideock Path to Bridport.

Thoughts on the project can also be sent to Mr Maskell at [email protected]
