Help make someone smile this Christmas with the wonderful Bridport Christmas campaign
The people of Bridport are being encouraged to make someone smile this Christmas and get involved in the Bridport Community Campaign for Christmas.
The idea is to ensure the elderly in our town with no family receive a present this Christmas.
Michelle Holmes-Good, who is leading the campaign, said: "I heard that every Dunelm store has a Christmas tree with tags on, showing the names of all the people in care homes who have no one and an indication of what they would like for Christmas. You take a tag, buy the item and hand it over at the checkout.
"Such a lovely, simple way to ensure that elderly people with no family still get a gift at Christmas. I thought it was a wonderful idea and we should do it in Bridport.
"Each gift tag gives you a name of the person, which home they are with and what that person likes.
"We have only done people at the care homes at the moment as we were worried it may get too complicated with dealing with deliveries. If people want to add extra people, get in touch with us and we will see what we can do."
The three trees are currently at Groves Nurseries, Morrisons and Spar in West Bay until December 16.
Michelle added: "A big thank you to Groves Nurseries, Keira at Morrisons and Spar at West Bay for letting us use their venues and to Creeds for printing the posters and tags free of charge. Plus, Kerry Tancock for being my partner in crime."
