Jurassic Fields has been postponed for a second year.

The popular Bridport music festival was due to take place on July 9 and 10 but organisers have made the "tough decision" to postpone it until 2022.

The event is not for profit and is made possible by a team of volunteers and the wider community.

A spokesman for the event said: "With the restrictions we would ned to put in place to make the event Covid secure and the additional costs that this would create for us, it has been a major stumbling block.

"We also rely on the kind support of sponsors who without which we would not be able to put on the festival, unfortunately the past 12 months have been particularly hard for them as well and understandably they are not able to provide the support they have in previous years if we were to go ahead in 2021.

"The financial and safety implications of organising a festival and then cancelling at the last minute compared with postponing much earlier are considerable.

"We collectively as a team have been working tirelessly for over seven years with all year-round planning and preparations to make each year grow and develop. We want to ensure that this organisation will be here for many years to come to achieve our long-term goals of bringing great events to Bridport and the surrounding area.

"Despite the doom and gloom, we are now in full flow to bring a full calendar of events to the area later this year and leading up to next year's festival when the restrictions allow us to do it safely."

All artists confirmed to perform at this year's festival will be at the 2022 event, with more acts still to be announced.

The spokesman added: "Both Dan and James have been working with the extended team to make sure that when we return it shall be a party that Bridport never forgets. At this time, we would like to also offer our thanks to all of the continued support from our team, Bridport Town Council, sponsors and ticket holders.

"We as a country have weathered a long testing year and we hope that soon, when restrictions allow and the time is right, we will all be stood shoulder to shoulder with drinks in hand enjoying the beauty of West Dorset and each other's company back at Asker Meadows."

All tickets have been rolled over to 2022.
