Every week we will be sharing a circular walk in and around our local area with directions and photos. We use the OS Map app, which is very useful if you are out walking.

If you subscribe to our newsletter, you will be able to receive the walk first every Friday and be able to enjoy it over the weekend.

This week's walk is around Symondsbury and is around three and a half miles and takes around one hour 20 minutes. It is easy walking.

Starting at Symondsbury Estate car park, come out of the complex onto the main road through the village, turning left towards the primary school. At the triangle junction opposite the school, turn right and the road will turn into a lane.

Pass Colmer's Hill on your left and follow the lane round to the left to Shutes Lane. Continue straight and when you come to a cross roads, continue straight and pass a steel barn frame in the field on your left.

Where the path joins another track, turn right and continue straight at the next crossroads. After a while you can see a beautiful view of Colmer's Hill to your left, with a log bench for you to sit and rest, taking in the view.

The track comes to a road, cross the road and continue straight, going down the gravel road.

At the T-junction, turn right and follow this road until you reach another T-junction and also turn right here.

Where the road meets another road, turn left and walk past Charles Chesshire Rare and Special Plants and then a graveyard on your left. Continue along this road back into the centre of Symondsbury and where the walk started.

There's lots to see at Symondsbury Estate - shops, exhibitions and Symondsbury Kitchen for a place to eat. The village pub, Ilchester Arms also offers refreshments. Please check the opening times of the pub and Symondsbury Kitchen.

This walk is just a suggestion, you can of course take any different routes you wish to make it more direct or make it longer. Always take extra care where the ground is uneven or wet.
