A safe route for pedestrians and cyclists is one step closer to reality.

Chideock resident Winston Maskell, who has been organising and planning the path, held a drop-in session at the George pub for residents and visitors to see the project documents, which included references to past projects, possible routes, support for the scheme and more.

These have now been sent to Dorset Council, as well as West Dorset MP Chris Loder.

Mr Maskell has been working with Deirdre Coates, of Chideock Manor, to prepare the project document and while they wait for a response from Dorset Council, residents are asked to continue submitting their support for the path.

Me Maskell said: "The second drop-in at the George - thank you Jamie and Amy - was every bit as successful as the session in the Clock. Deirdre and I are very grateful to all who attended, giving their very constructive comments and support.

"Without doubt, we are convinced that this trail is really needed and we, with your support, will do our utmost to achieve it.

"If you can contact friends, relations from far and wide who, knowing the village and the area, would like to support the project, please ask them to write to me, email, letter, telephone whatever. We must prove that this trail is needed."

You can contact Mr Maskell on 01297 489338, email [email protected] or write to Simons Orchard, Chideock, Dorset, DT6 6JQ.
