Bridport Tree Planting volunteers have been able to plant 75 trees in 75 minutes.
They have been planted at Dibdin View on a piece of land in the Flaxhayes area and owned by Magna Housing Association.
Hazel, hawthorn, blackthorn, downy birch, crab apple, goat willow, beech and alder were planted by seven enthusiasts all socially distanced.
Passers be and dog walkers gave support, many saying how encouraging it was to see new trees in an area where some other trees had been vandalised.
The new little trees, to be followed by some bigger oaks and hornbeam, will provide a screen against the view of the industrial estate and give biodiversity on what was a patch of grass.
Joe Hackett, co-ordinator of Bridport Tree Planting, said: "It was great to finish three months of consultation with Magna. It was the first time Bridport Tree Planting - which is planting 600 trees in public spaces in the town this winter - has worked with them.
"Magna own many other patches of ground and we hope to develop a long-lasting co-operation.
"Last week we also helped plant 90 new trees at Millennium Green after putting a new fence to protect from grazing cattle.
"We've plans for further planting in Asker Meadows and at the end of the walkway and cycle path to West Bay and a new scheme in Bradpole."
Up to five trees, all native species, are available free to individuals in the town, together with stakes and guards. For more information, email [email protected]
Bridport Tree Planting has had to cancel its More Trees Please event scheduled for February 20 at Bridport United Church. It is hoped trees can be given away at an open air event in march when people can come individually.
