The A35 between Bridport and Dorchester has been closed.

Police are on the scene near to the Litton Cheney turning closest to Bridport and the road is closed in both directions.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "Officers are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision on the A35 at Litton Cheney in West Dorset.

"The road is currently closed between Monkeys Jump roundabout in Dorchester and the Esso garage roundabout in Bridport.

"We would ask motorists to please seek alternative routes. Thank you for your patience and understanding."

Crews from Bridport Fire Station also attended.

A spokesman said: "Both Bridport appliances along with Beaminster Fire Station and Dorchester Fire Station were all mobilised to a road traffic collision on the A35 near Litton Cheney involving a van and lorry.

"One casualty who was medically trapped was released by the fire service and taken to hospital."
