The Weymouth land train will be offering a special group price to organisations, charities, and groups to raise vital funds for Weldmar Hospicecare during the summer months.

Groups up to 50 people are invited to ride on the Weymouth Land Train around the harbour route for a discounted price of £50 per trip. All funds raised by group visits will be donated to Weldmar.

Tony Poole, owner of the land train, said: "The land train is a firm favourite for visitors to Weymouth and I really wanted to make sure that local groups and residents can enjoy a trip on the train whilst raising funds for a local charity.

"This year, we have teamed up with Weldmar. If any groups are interested in running a group tour, please get in touch with me and I will sort out a suitable date and time for their trip."

Fiona Hansford, fundraising lead for Weldmar Hospicecare, commented: "We are thrilled to have the Weymouth Land Train on board as one of our supporters this year.

"We hope to bring a lot of joy to the groups who ride on the train whilst raising vital funds for Weldmar Hospicecare, providing specialist care to people in Dorset who have a life limiting illness, and supporting their loved ones."

Weymouth and Dorset Councils have granted a licence this year to enable the train to run again along the esplanade from opposite the Gloucester Bars to the Sealife Centre, as it can now operate using a greener fuel source instead of regular diesel.

This second route is now in operation and will run until the end of August. This useful transport link is a favourite with tired families returning from Weymouth beach to the car parks at Lodmoor and those visiting the Sealife Centre. The route will operate in the mornings and afternoons only.
