An incredible 12,000 coronavirus vaccines have been given at Bridport Medical Centre so far.

After it became the vaccination centre for the Jurassic Coast Primary Care Network (PCN) - made up of Bridport Medical Centre, Charmouth Medical Practice, The Tollerford Practice, Barton House Medical Practice and Lyme Bay Medical and Dental practices - last year, it started delivering vaccinations on December 16.

Since then, clinics on Wednesdays and Saturdays have taken place, with hundreds of people being vaccinated at each.

Most recently, around 1,500 vaccines were given on Wednesday and 1,350 were given in just six hours on Saturday.

Another clinic is taking place at Bridport Medical Centre tomorrow (Saturday), in which around 1,000 people will be getting the vaccine between 8.30am and 1.30pm.

A spokesman for Bridport Coronavirus Community Support, the army of volunteers who help at the vaccination clinics, said: "Parking for those getting vaccinations is available in the West Street/bus station car park with parking spaces at Bridport Medical Centre mostly reserved for those with mobility issues who would not otherwise be able to get to the surgery.

"Could all those arriving please have their face masks on as they arrive - including drivers who may not be getting out of the car.

"The cold weather continues, so please do wrap up warm as there may be a wait outside. To help this, it is advised not to arrive early for your vaccination. You will not miss your appointment.

"It is likely to be busy around the medical centre in West Allington and West Road, so if anyone local could avoid the area during the morning, that would be greatly appreciated.

"Once again, thank you all so much for your patience and support in helping the vaccination clinic run so smoothly."
