Artsreach bringing gypsy jazz to Broadwindsor this week

London based gypsy-jazz band Latchepen are born out of a collective admiration of Django Reinhardt and anything that swings.

This week, the quartet heads to Dorset for a three-date tour with Artsreach, the county's touring arts charity, and will be stopping off at Broadwindsor, near Bridport.

Acoustic by nature, Latchepen perform jazz on strings, with influences ranging from Romani music to bebop.

The band consists of Matt Holborn (violin), Kourosh Kanani (guitar), Dave Kelbie (guitar) and Simon Read (bass), and regularly play at venues in their home of London such as as Ronnie Scotts, as well touring all over the UK playing arts venues and village halls.

Between them, the musicians have wide ranging experience performing with many of the leading figures in the style all over the world at festivals such as the Django Reinhardt festival, Turin Jazz Festival and March Manouche UK.
