An avid Bridport fundraiser has managed to raise more than £1,700 for Weldmar Hospicecare after her charity auction had to be postponed three times.

Roz Copson is known locally for throwing her support behind local charities and holding fundraisers and her auction at The Ropemakers pub is no exception.

Thanks to the generosity of bidders, £1,765 was raised.

She said: "My thanks go to everyone who donated goods and money, particular thanks to Simon and Susie of Lyme Bay Auctions, Richard and Sam of Bridport Antiques and The Alleyways for the brilliant auctioneer and modelling, walking up and down the pub showing the items to be sold.

"Thanks also to Nigel for sorting items and storing in his living room and kitchen and a big help on the day, and to Karen, Anthony and Chris for also storing items and terrific help on the day, Geraldine and John and staff at The Ropemakers for hosting the event and keeping me supplied with tea and coffee.

"And many thanks to friends and colleagues for helping to raise a brilliant sum of money, as the event had to be postponed three times during restrictions, and support through my own periods of doubt.

"As it costs £18,000 per day to keep the hospice open, the sum we have raised will go a little bit towards keeping that open."

She deserves a well-earned break, although we're sure she has got another fundraiser in mind already!
