Residents and visitors are being urged not to leave valuables in their cars.

A handbag was stolen from a vehicle parked at Langdon Woods, Chideock, yesterday (Tuesday) between 3.30pm and 4.30pm.

Thieves smashed a window to gain entry and stole the bag from under a seat.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "Please be advised not to leave any items of value inside a vehicle, even if hidden away.

"Be vigilant when parking in isolated areas and report any suspicious activity to us on 101, or 999 if you think a crime is in progress."
