This year's Bridport Carnival royal party has been announced following a fun competition at Groves Nursery's Ivy House.

Millie Frampton, aged 13, has been named carnival princess, alongside attendants Delilah Rayner, 11, and Ava Hook, 9.

All three impressed judges John Tassel, Ita Larcombe and the Reverend Janis Moore with their sense of fun, inclusiveness, creative ideas and ability to chat to others during the competition.

Teresa Grinter also taught all the entrants a dance routine that they had fun showing everyone.

They will be officially crowned at the start of Bridport Carnival Week on Sunday, August 13 at the teddy bear's picnic from 11am on Millennium Green.

Local groups are invited to apply for a child friendly stall at this event for £5 by emailing [email protected]

The royal party will then take part in the carnival procession on Saturday, August 19 and the torchlight procession on Sunday, August 20.
