Emergency services were called in the early hours of Monday morning after a woman fell and became impaled on a metal pole.

The ambulance service and two crews from Bridport Fire Station attended a commercial property in West Bay Road at around 3.10am.

The fire service was called by the ambulance crew to cut down the metal pole to allow the woman to be taken to hospital by ambulance.

A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called by the ambulance service at 3.10am yesterday morning to a commercial property on West Bay Road, Bridport.

"Two crews from Bridport attended the incident which involved a female casualty who had fallen onto a metal pole.

"Our crew used small tools to assist paramedics in moving her for transportation to hospital."
