Hollywood actor Timothée Chalamet has been spotted in Lyme Regis this morning (Monday) as filming for 'Wonka' gets underway.

A huge film crew has taken over the historic Cobb harbour and surrounding areas, with production trucks parked at Monmouth Beach and based in a field on the outskirts of the town.

The harbour has been dressed in fake snow and nineteenth century props, with the 1930s steam drifter Lydia Eva - which stopped off at West Bay - moored off the Cobb.

Lead actor Timothée Chalamet gave fans a sneak preview of his portrayal of the Roald Dahl character Willy Wonka, posting a picture of him in costume on Twitter.

The actor was then spotted in costume walking along the high wall of the Cobb this morning.

The 25-year-old is best known for his recent roles in 'The King', 'Little Women' and the upcoming sci-fi epic 'Dune'.

His performance in 'Call Me by Your Name' earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor at just 22 years old.

He then played Nic Sheff in the autobiographical drama 'Beautiful Boy', for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award and a BAFTA.

The musical 'Wonka' will tell the story of a young Willy Wonka in nineteenth century Britain, during the Industrial Revolution, before he opens his famous chocolate factory.

It is expected to be released in March 2023.

Other cast members include Oscar-winner Olivia Coleman and comic actors Rowan Atkinson and Matt Lucas, with the latter having been spotted filming scenes alongside Chalamet in Lyme Regis this morning.

The filming is expected to continue tomorrow (Tuesday).
