First Wessex winter bus timetable started on Sunday (October 3) which means changes to the X51 and X53 services.

The main differences are:

  • The X51 and X53 services Monday to Saturday towards Dorchester and Weymouth will leave Bridport earlier
  • An X53 Sunday service is retained between Weymouth and Lyme Regis. There is not a direct service to Axminster or Dorchester on Sundays
  • The current No 6 07:12 Beaminster to Bridport service, used by students, is retimed earlier and will leave at 07:00 and the last evening return that currently leaves Bridport bus station at 18:22, will leave earlier at 18:10
  • The No 6 16:35 Yeovil Bus Station to Bridport bus will call at Yeovil College at 16:45 on college days

The X51/X53 timetable can be seen here. The No 6 service can be seen here.

Bob Driscoll, chairman of Western Area Transport Action Group (WATAG), said: "The retention of a Sunday service between Weymouth and Lyme Regis, via West Bay and Bridport, is extremely good news and we hope that local people will take advantage of it.

"The announcement that Yeovil College is being served by the 16.35 Yeovil Bus Station - Bridport is also excellent news and means that students for Yeovil College, from the Bridport and Beaminster area, are once again able to travel by public transport in both directions."
