Guides have been busy planting a county boundary hedge removed around 90 years ago.

As part of The Queen's Green Canopy, Guides from Bothenhampton, Charmouth and Broadwindsor, with West Dorset Rangers, planted more than 600 trees and reinstated the county boundary between Dorset and Somerset removed from a farm in Mosterton in the 1930s.

They applied to the Woodland Trust which gave the group 450 trees and spurred on by cake and hot chocolate, they planted them on Sunday, January 9.

Emma House, leader of the 1st Broadwindsor Guides and 1st West Dorset Rangers, who also owns the farm with her husband, said: "We brought some extra hedge plants because 450 trees wasn't going to be enough and they've planted this massive, long boundary hedge for the Queen's Green Canopy.

"It's been pinned on the [Queen's Green Canopy] map - it's brilliant.

"They worked really hard and they enjoyed it and they made new friends, which was another really good thing about it as they were girls from different units, they wouldn't ordinarily get to see each other, so it was a nice opportunity for them to see each other, get outside, get some fresh air and do something really good."

The Queen's Green Canopy is a tree planting initiative to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee this year, which invited people to 'plant a tree for the jubilee'.
