Soaring energy bills and running costs resulted in the closure of The Market House, West Street.

Bridport Mayor Ian Bark called it "another blow" for the high street.

Co-managers Olly Jarvis and Alice Thomas said it would be impossible to continue to run the pub without dramatically increasing prices to keep up with the rise in costs.

Olly and Alice had built up a strong reputation for their lunches, takeouts, and a very popular Sunday carvery.

Following final celebrations last weekend, a spokesperson for The Market House posted on social media:

"Thank you to everyone for sending off the Market House in the best way possible, what a weekend.

"But the main thank you goes to all the staff, what an amazing team we had. I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say we will miss working here and especially all our lovely customers."
