Bridport is looking forward to the return of the Charter Fair in May

Bridport's revitalised Community Charter Fair will be held on Saturday, May 20.

For the first time, the event will be held at two venues – Mountfield and Bucky Doo Square – as the take up by community groups and performers alike was so great last year, much to the regret of the organisers, not all could be included in a packed programme, resulting in the change of format for 2023.

There will be free entertainment at both venues and it's anticipated that there will be upwards of 50 community groups involved.

Refreshments will be available at Mountfield, where the children's area will once again be organised by Bridport Young Performers with some surprise guests.

The two annual awards, the Charter Fair Trophy for a group or organisation, and the Above and Beyond Trophy for an individual, will be presented by the Mayor of Bridport in recognition of outstanding service to the community.

The response to the 2022 fair was extremely positive.

The Mayor of Bridport, Cllr Ian Bark, said at the time: "It was wonderful to see so many community groups present on the Millennium Green. They are all amazing. I was really pleased with the event, and could not stop smiling whenever I reflected on it."
