Bridport man arrested on suspicion of having a knife in a public place

A 33-year-old Bridport man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife in a public place.

Police were in the Skilling area yesterday evening (Sunday) making enquiries into an incident that happened outside Skilling Stores in Alexandra Road.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "It is alleged that at around 5.30pm on Sunday, February 28, a man verbally threatened a group of people while brandishing a knife before then walking off.

"A 33-year-old man from Bridport was later arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place.

"He is helping officers with their enquiries."
