A new shop bay window will be fitted to a business in South Street, Bridport – together with new doors for an office and a flat in the same building.

Planning consent was needed for the changes because the property, A G Down Funeral Directors, is a listed building.

An application form for the alterations says the bay is now in a delicate state having been regularly decorated and rotten timbers repaired over many years. Similar repairs have also been carried out to an ornate cornice while the scalloped leadwork to the roof of the bay is described as "looking very tired and is failing" allowing water to seep into the building.

Both the flat door and the office door will be replaced to be in keeping with the new bay window and surround.

Bridport Town Council has raised no objection to the changes with the new fittings to be painted black to match the existing window and doors.
