Bridport: Police appeal after Beaminster crash leaves motorcyclist with serious head injuries

Police are appealing for information after a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash in Beaminster.

At around 12.55pm on Monday, August 30 a orange Kawasaki motorcycle and an orange and black Renault Captur crashed on the A3066 Bridport Road.

Officers attended the scene alongside the ambulance and fire service.

The rider of the motorcycle, a man in his 30s and from Somerset, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Southmead Hospital for treatment. His condition is serious but not life-threatening.

The driver of the Renault and his wife, who are both local and aged in their 70s, were taken to hospital as a precaution.

The road was closed between Townsend Way and near to The Mount. It reopened at 4.30pm.

Police Sergeant Lee Savage, of the traffic unit, said: "I am appealing to anyone who was travelling along Bridport Road at the time of the collision and wither witnessed the incident or the manner of driving of the vehicles involved prior to it, to please some forward.

"I would also ask that anyone who was driving in the area and has dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please check their footage for anything of relevance."
