There has been overwhelming support from residents to keep the White Lion in Broadwindsor open, which could mean the village taking it on as a community pub.

Following the departure of tenants Spike and Vikki, Palmers Brewery, which owns the pub, approached Broadwindsor Group Parish Council as a last resort to operate the White Lion as a community pub after no one suitable or interested had come forward to take over the licence at the pub.

Residents were asked to complete questionnaires about whether Broadwindsor should have a community pub and 95 per cent of respondents want to White Lion to remain open and active.

A public meeting to discuss the results of the questionnaire will be held on Thursday, July 29 at the Comrades Hall from 7.30pm. There will also be an open discussion and an opportunity for Q&As.

No decisions have been made yet and discussions with Palmers Brewery are ongoing.
