Bridport United Church Christmas tree festival cancelled

One of the most popular Christmas events in Bridport will not be going ahead this year.

Bridport United Church's Christmas tree festival, which usually opens on Christmas Cheer night for more than a week, has been cancelled due to coronavirus restrictions.

A spokesman for the event said: "Sadly, because of the ongoing health and social difficulties caused by the continuing Covid-19 pandemic, we will not be able to stage the Christmas tree festival this year.

"We shall decorate the inside of the church with Christmas lights and may add a few trees and decorate them as well, but there will be o public admission to the church.

"Very sorry but we hope to be back next year."

The church is usually filled with Christmas trees, each from a different local charity and with a donation box.
