Bridport walk of the month: Attractions and beauty spots

Every month we will be sharing a circular walk in and around our local area with directions and photos. We use the OS Map app, which is very useful if you are out walking.

If you subscribe to our newsletter, you will be able to receive the walk first and be able to enjoy it over the weekend.

The month's walk takes in some of Bridport's town centre green spaces and attractions, a loop just over two miles long, taking around an hour.

Start in Wykes Court car park off Rax Lane and go up the stairs to the council offices and Millennium Green. Walk through the green going past the offices and round to the left of them before turning right when you get past them. You will then come out on to Barrack Street, turn right to East Street.

Cross the road and turn right. Just after a bridge turn left, 'Asker Meadows'. Continue straight into the meadows and turn right when you see a sign to 'Town Centre' over a bridge. Follow that to come out next to South Street car park and on the South Street.

Cross the road and turn left before turning right at St Mary's Churchyard towards Bridport Community Orchard. Walk through the churchyard and continue straight to St Mary's playing fields. Turn right towards the play area and after the house on your right, turn left.

Continue along this path until, turning to your right, before crossing the bridge on your right into Plottingham Playing Fields. Cross the bridge towards the bus station and walk down the road to the right of Dominos and follow it round before turning left just after the Hope and Anchor pub.

Walk through the car park to the top and into The Tanyard. Then take the turning on your right to Borough Gardens. Walk through them and turn left at the road to go back to South Street. Opposite you will find Bridport Museum.

Turn left onto South Street and cross the road at the town hall over towards boots. Turn left before turning right up North Street and you will be back at the car park at the start.

This walk is just a suggestion, you can of course take any different routes you wish to make it more direct or make it longer. Always take extra care where the ground is uneven or wet.

Please leave gates as you find them - if you opened it, close it.

Please keep dogs on leads around livestock.
