By Lottie Welch

17th Apr 2022 | Local News

Each first Friday of the month we will be sharing a circular walk in and around our local area for our newsletter subscribers to enjoy. We use the OS Map app, which is very useful if you are out walking.

This month's walk around Pymore is just over two and a miles and takes around one hour and 20 minutes. It is of easy walking level.

Start in Wykes Court car park in Bridport and take the footpath to the far side near Victoria Grove and turn right. Cross over the road to stay on the pavement. When you go round the corner to the left, there will be some steps on your right. Go up them.

Keep following this path until you get to St Catherine's Primary School and when you get there, cross the road and turn right to continue on the pavement. Stay on this path until you get to a footpath on your right by the 'Pymore' sign and go down there.

When you get to the road, turn left, and where the road splits in two at the rover, stay left to go over the bridge. Continue straight as the road turns into a lane. Go past some houses and farm buildings and go through the gate ahead. continue straight and go through the next gate and follow the path.

Just after some blue buildings on your left, turn left to go down the track, following the 'Monarch Way' signs. A footpath will come up on your right through a field, go through there. Follow the path round to the left and into another field.

Follow the path on the left, next to a house, and walk down the field to a gate. Go over the stile and continue straight.

At the top of the hill go through the gate ahead. Continue straight, through another gate and walk down the right of the field and go over the stile before turning left and then right to walk through a housing estate.

Continue straight until you reach a T-junction and turn left before turning right to go down 'Perryhayes'. Follow this path and turn left when it reaches a road.

At the end of the road, turn right. Cross the road and the turn left down 'Bullens Mead'.

Where the path meets a field, turn right. Keep following the path to the right and you'll come out onto Victoria Grove.

Go up the steps across the road and follow the road back to the car park.

This walk is just a suggestion, you can of course take any different routes you wish to make it more direct or make it longer. Always take extra care where the ground is uneven or wet.

Please leave gates as you find them - if you opened it, close it.

Please keep dogs on leads around livestock.
