We have introduced a walk of the week for our newsletter subscribers to enjoy over the weekend.

Each Friday we will be sharing a circular walk in and around our local area with directions and photos. We use the OS Map app, which is very useful if you are out walking.

This week's walk is a 1.8-mile route around Bradpole and takes around one hour. it is of easy level walking.

Start in Townsend Way at the junction with the A3066. Turn right onto the A3066 and there will be a footpath on your right, go down there. When the path comes out onto a road, turn left and walk up Mangerton Lane.

Two gates will come up on your right, go through the second one, through the field and through the next gate. Turn right and go through the opening in the hedge into another field and follow the path around the right-hand edge. Go past a row of houses and there will be a stile on the right in the corner. Go over it.

Follow the path until it comes out onto a road and turn left to walk down Higher Street. Continue along this road, past Forsters Lane and just after a bridge, go down the footpath on your right.

Follow the path and keep an eye out for a wooden bridge on your right, go over it and into a field, walking to the metal gate straight ahead. Continue straight on the track past farm buildings and turn right at the house on your left to go up the hill.

At the top of the hill there is a stile on your right, go over it and through the second metal gate on your right with the footpath sign. Turn left to walk down the field next to the fence.

Follow the field as it goes down and around to the left and into another field. Here, stick to the right-hand edge and go down the hill to a little path by the river. It is a little steep. Follow the path round until you come to a road where you should turn right to walk over the bridge.

Follow the road round to the right and then round to the left and turn right into Caley Way after going over some old train lines.

By a stone wall you will see a footpath sign on your left, go down there and turn right down a grassy path just before it ends. When the path meets a road, turn left, walking along the pavement and following it round to the right as it turns to stone paving and goes uphill towards the church.

Stay on the pavement until you reach Higher Street and turn left.

After Bradpole Social Club and at the right-hand bend, there will be a path straight ahead, go down there and the path will come out by a car park, but go down the steps to the right and follow the path round to the left.

Keep following the path straight ahead and you will come back out onto Townsend Way.

This walk is just a suggestion, you can of course take any different routes you wish to make it more direct or make it longer. Always take extra care where the ground is uneven or wet.

Please leave gates as you find them - if you opened it, close it.

Please keep dogs on leads around livestock.
