Every week we will be sharing a circular walk in and around our local area with directions and photos. We use the OS Map app, which is very useful if you are out walking.

If you subscribe to our newsletter, you will be able to receive the walk first every Friday and be able to enjoy it over the weekend.

This week's walk is a 1.6-mile route around Watton Hill, taking around one hour. there are some steep climbs during the walk.

Start at Co-op and come out onto Sea Road North. Cross the road and turn left.

Just after St Katherine's Drive and Lidl, turn left up the footpath and continue straight up there. Just after a right hand corner where the pavement continues to houses, there will be a grassy path on the left, go up there and then cross the road and continue on the path opposite.

Keep following the path up the hill and you will come out at a field, turn right and go through a little clearing in the hedge. Continue following the path into the next field then go into the field after that one.

Stick to the path on the right and when you get to the end of the path, follow the path round to the left - ignore the path and gate in front of you - and down the hill, turning back on yourself.

Follow the path as it drops down to the right towards Colfox school and you will come out in Dodhams Lane. Turn left and then follow the lane round to the left.

As the lane reaches a road, turn left and go through the metal gate to go back up the hill. Walk straight up the hill to steps and a stile. Go over it and follow the path up the hill and into trees.

Keep following the path until you come to another path and turn right.

There is a lot to explore on Watton Hill, so do have a wander.

The path will eventually come out onto Claremont Road. Go straight down it and cross the road to go up some steps. You will come out on Coneygar Lane, walk down it and join the road on your left.

Walk down it, past Bridport Primary School and at the end turn left and you will see Co-op on the right across the road.

This walk is just a suggestion, you can of course take any different routes you wish to make it more direct or make it longer. Always take extra care where the ground is uneven or wet.

Please leave gates as you find them - if you opened it, close it.

Please keep dogs on leads around livestock.
