Bridport's Mr and Mrs White-Christmas received "the best Christmas present" - the honeymoon of their dreams.

Childhood sweethearts, Tilly Christmas and Kieran White, enjoyed the white sands of Antigua, returning home before the UK's latest travel restrictions were announced.

The couple spread cheer when the news they had become Mr and Mrs White-Christmas went viral, after they tied the knot a day before the second lockdown. They have had a busy year, with Kieran working on the frontline for a supermarket and Tilly starting her final year of university.

Virgin Atlantic flew Mr and Mrs White-Christmas on the honeymoon the pandemic denied them, as a thank you for bringing a smile to the nation during what has been a tough year for many.

Tilly White-Christmas said: "We couldn't believe it when Virgin Atlantic told us they were taking us away on our honeymoon.

"After a crazy year, we're so happy our wedding and the fact we're the only White-Christmas' - as far as we know - brought a glimpse of joy to the nation."

They jetted off to stay at Sandals Grande Antigua Resort and Spa and enjoyed some of the tropical Caribbean island's most iconic activities, from visiting Shirley Heights scenic lookout to kayaking and sailing in the crystal-clear Caribbean waters.

Kieran White-Christmas said: "We had the best time celebrating in Antigua - we honestly didn't think we'd make it away on a honeymoon this year so this is the best Christmas present we could have wished for - and just before these tough new restrictions."

Virgin Atlantic said: "2020 has been tough for so many but we are all grateful to those that brought us a much-needed smile.

"When we read about the White-Christmas wedding, we wanted to say thank you by sending them on the dream honeymoon they misses out on due to the pandemic and where better than the idyllic island of Antigua?

"Thankfully Mr and Mrs White-Christmas were able to enjoy their trip, safely, before the latest restrictions were announced."
