Volunteers are needed for a new allotment and garden in Bripdort.

Bridport Medical Centre in partnership with Bridport Health Champions and some volunteers are looking for people to help them establish Cowshed at Number 17, a wheelchair friendly allotment and garden with a wildlife area and 'kindness garden' for community use.

Situated behind the medical centre, the community garden will be a place of sanctuary for patients and the community to visit, and where patients produce salads, vegetables and flowers for people to take home.

This project will be entirely community driven and funded and is in need of much needed help.

The group is looking for people to put in place a tool shed, build raised beds and a workstation and a social shelter.

If you can help with fundraising, have green fingers, can volunteer to help with building and/or maintaining the garden or would like to donate, get in touch with health champion Mary by emailing [email protected]

A spokesman for the project said: "We hope to have volunteers on site in march and our first job will be to clean the weed out by digging. This is our first priority and the second one is a tool shed.

"This is a lovely initiative aiming to have a positive impact on our community's wellbeing and will be a very rewarding project to be part of, so please get in touch if you would like to help get this project started."
