A Bridport café has shared CCTV footage of the moment a dog ran off from its owner - while tied to a bench.

Kernow Pantry, who own the bench, shared the remarkable footage on Facebook to warn other dog owners from suffering the same fate.

In the video, the owner casually ties his pooch to the seat before heading in to the Brydian Mews pasty shop.

But before he can make his way inside, the dog sprints off - taking the entire bench with him.

It's said that the dog ran all across town before the owner was eventually able to catch up and return the bench to its spot outside the store.

The owner of Kernow Pantry who shared the footage, said: "This is actually the second occasion this has happened in four years.

"The bench is really light because we have to bring it in and out every morning and night, so we specifically put dog lead hooks outside.

"But this guy must not have seen them, and just like last time, you can see the dog sprint off dragging our bench with him.

"Apparently he made it half way across town before he was caught!"

The video was filmed on February 23.
