A new zero waste online shopping company is helping West Dorset shoppers reduce single use plastics.

Since launching in November, GoGoEco customers have eliminated more than 1,400 pieces of single use plastic through their online shopping by choosing items which are plastic free.

Founded by Libby Rogers, previously of The Green Weigh, GoGoEco is intended to provide local residents with an alternative, more sustainable way to shop online for home deliveries.

Every product that GoGoEco supplies and delivers has been carefully sourced to be eco-friendly and free from pointless plastic. Food items are delivered as refills for jars at home, in brown paper bags with compostable labels. Detergents are delivered as refills for bottles at home, using clean repurposed packaging which has been diverted from recycling, which helps reduce C02 emissions.

Libby said: "Since I was a kid growing up in Dorset, I've loved wildlife, the ocean and the natural world.

"In 2013 I returned to Dorset from travelling and working as a scuba divemaster, where I'd witnessed how throwaway plastics are choking our paradises and littering our natural spaces. I'm finding what's happening to our planet so alarming that I wanted to do something and take action against pollution.

"GoGoEco builds on the experiences I've gained over the last four years with reducing throwaway plastics, on a professional and personal level as a mother of two young boys. We can't recycle or beach clean ourselves out of the plastic problem, so I hope that GoGoEco provides an online shopping facility that helps our community change its shopping habits for the better."
