Donna's getting out and about in the Dorset countryside to raise money for charity

By Lottie Welch 9th Mar 2021

Donna Edwards has ditched the car for March in an attempt to walk around our beautiful Dorset countryside and coastline and raise some funds for charity.

She has signed up to CLIC Sargent's 500,000 steps in March, and has already walked more than 200,000 steps.

Donna said: "On March 1 I started to walk to raise funds for CLIC Sargent and the young people and their families that they help with cancer. I will be walking around our beautiful countryside every day through March.

"Now, the mathematician that I am has worked out that 500,000 steps divided by 31 is around 16,200 a day, that might not seem a lot to you all, but it's actually double my average daily total for the last few months.

"So, please, please help give me a kick up the backside by donating £1, £2, £5 or anything you lovely people can.

"I have set a target of £150, which with the help of family and friends was actually doubled by the seventh day and by the same day I had reached 220,000 steps - equal to approximately 110 miles.

"Also, I must mention and thank the lovely members of the public who have seen me out and about and kindly donated cash.

"Since the first lockdown and increasing my weight since that time, I decided to get an exercise bike and also start walking. For someone who would rather take the car to the corner shop, this was way out of character, so when we got to a third lockdown, I decided this would be a great way to do some fundraising, joined CLIC's 500,000 steps in March and set up a Just Giving page."

Donna has already raised more than £300 and if you see her out walking, give her a smile and a wave!
