Bridport firefighters helped free a person whose foot became trapped under one tonne of soil.

Two appliances from Bridport were called to Hardy Road this morning (Monday) at 11am to a person who had become trapped by moving a load of soil.

A spokesman for Bridport Fire Station said: "On arrival, crews found the driver of an LGV whose foot had become trapped between a one tonne bag of soil on a pallet and the vehicle's loading platform.

"Crews stabilised the load so that it couldn't move any further and then using inflatable airbags and a bit of brute force, released the driver.

"The driver was checked over an no major injuries were found."
