For the first tasking of 2021, the West Bay Coastguard team was called out to a life ring washed up on Cogden Beach.
A member of the public reported it to Solent Coastguard National Maritime Operations Centre and members went out just before 9.50am this morning (Thursday).
A spokesman for West Bay Coastguard said: "On arrival at the scene, photos were taken, markings were recorded and officers carried out a shoreline search of the immediate area for any further equipment, debris or items of concern.
"With nothing untoward found, Solent Coastguard was updated and the team was stood down to return to station whilst further enquiries are made.
"The ring is marked with the name 'Deep Vision' with the location as Aberdeen.
"If you have any information on the current owner of the life ring, or if it was recently lost from a vessel, please contact the coastguard via 112.
"We want to thank the member of the public for reporting this to the coastguard.
"If you run into trouble on the coast or if you see something which gives you cause for concern, do not hesitate, dial 999 and ask for the coastguard."
