A flood warning has been issued for the River Brit in Newtown and Southgate Old Mill, Beaminster.

River levels are high and forecast to rise further on the River Brit due to heavy rainfall on Sunday.

Areas of low lying land are expected to be most affected, particularly around properties in Southgate and Newtown, with river levels expected to remain high until Monday and further rainfall forecast overnight.

The public are advised to avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses, and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water.

A lower level flood alert - meaning flooding is 'possible' - has also been issued for locations near the River Lim, River Char, River Winniford, Simene River, River Brit, River Asker, River Mangerton, River Bride, with low lying land expected to be most affected.
