Fossil Shop opens for summer

It's been 200 million years in the making, a couple of dinosaur suits, a lot of fossils and a shop full of seaside goodies - but The Fossil Shop at West Bay is open and ready for summer.

This summer there are some cool new things to be had at The Fossil Shop including new, handmade, wooden bellyboards or 'Dinoboards' - complete with dinosaur logo to reflect our Jurassic coastline. You can hire a board for the day (for a refundable £10 - good or what?) or even buy one of a fine selection of colours... so the in-things to be seen with this summer!

There are also, of course, fossils, and plenty of them. They have all been collected and prepared by James Carroll, otherwise known as the Wobbly Fossiler, who also gives popular walks and talks at Charmouth - and the Fossil Shop hopes to welcome him there during the summer to talk all things fossil.

The ammonites may be small, but James takes great care and time in preparing them, in a painstaking process removing the 'matrix' or natural rock that surrounds each fossil.

And of course, once you've had a browse through the shop, or been catching the waves with your Dinobard, there's always The Watch House to visit to indulge in a pizza or a cup of coffee or two.

The Fossil Shop is launching a Dinoboard competition tomorrow on instagram, where you can win a Dinoboard, Dinoboard t-shirt and a Dinoboard cap. So look out at @watchhousecafe and @dinoboard_chesilbeach and good luck!
