A family is hoping to rise as much money as possible to help support a Beaminster lady through a bone marrow transplant.

Angie Bell is currently in Southampton Hospital awaiting the stem cell transplant, with her husband, Andy, driving up to be with her every day. They want to raise around £500 to enable him to stay in Southampton with her.

Her daughter, Amanda said: "My mum has a rare type of blood cancer, she's had it for about six or seven years. She was just having chemotherapy tablets and having her blood monitored, but now it's come to this point as her condition has changed.

"In January she had chemotherapy and she was then meant to go in in February for the transplant, but it kept getting cancelled, so she has gone in now and is having to have all that chemotherapy again. She is having the transplant on August 10 and is in there for around five weeks as it all depends on what her body and bloods do from the transplant.

"We're fundraising as my dad is there to support her, but we live in Beaminster. At the moment he is driving home to stay but that's a 120-mile round trip. My mum worries for him as he goes up every day, he leaves at 6am and is there all day. We're trying to help as much as we can financially to help them through the next five weeks."
