Have you tried the Dorset Countryside Scavenger Hunt?

Have you tried the Dorset Countryside Scavenger Hunt yet?

Dorset Council's country parks - which includes Hardy's Birthplace and Thorncombe Woods, Durlston Country Park, Avon Heath Country Park and Moors Valley Country Park and Forest - have worked together to create this trail which can be done anywhere in the countryside.

The trial is a great activity to keep little one's busy outdoors. It encourages them to start hunting and find:

• Something spiky

• An acorn, pinecone or any seed

• A chewed leaf (not by you)

• Something rough

• Three different types of leaves (from the ground)

• An animal print

• A soft feather

• Three shades of green

They can even get creative and make a picture using the things they have found. Share the photo on social media by tagging #DorsetCountryside.

Some other ideas include:

• Nature's orchestra: grass blowing, log drumming, puddle splashing all create great noises - what noise can you make?

• Mini homes: use any natural material to make a mini home for a mouse, hedgehog, maybe even a fairy - you decide!

• Discovered something new but unsure what it is? Take a photo and share it with Dorset Countryside
