Highlands End Holiday Park is not just for tourists - and there's so much to enjoy there

We live in a beautiful place, visited by hundreds of thousands of tourists each year, but there is a misconception that holiday parks are there solely for holidaymakers' benefit.

But that is absolutely not the case at Highlands End Holiday Park, which wants to welcome just as many locals as visitors.

So, here at Bridport Nub News are delighted to welcome West Dorset Leisure Holidays - which owns the park - as a sponsor and share and shout about all the brilliant things going on at the facility in Eype - the leisure club, restaurant, pitch and putt and soft play to name just a few.

Martin's Bar and Restaurant

With a large heated beer garden and spacious restaurant inside - with Covid screens still in place - there is plenty of room for the whole family, and the dog (yes, there's even a dog menu!), to enjoy a meal from its locally sourced menu - with a new one due to launch soon.

The restaurant, which has won a 2022 Taste of the West silver award, is open daily from 9am to 8pm also serving Costa coffee and showing BT Sport, including the Six Nations' games with a special deal of cheeseburger, fries and a pint for £14.95.

You can enjoy a meal, drink and game of pool while children play on the large play area outside or the Little Fire Engine Soft Play, which is free with a children's meal purchased between 4pm and 6pm. And for all ages - explore the unique fire engine display as Highlands End has one of England's largest and most important private collections.

Highlands End benefits from being a perfect spot for a carvery on a Sunday, curry on a Tuesday and happy hour every day from 4pm to 6pm when cocktails are two for £10.

And if all that isn't enough - there is also a pitch and putt course, open from March to October, and unrivalled coastal walks right on its doorstep to work up and appetite or enjoy after a delicious meal. Check out the Three Peaks Challenge!

Highlands End Leisure Club

The exclusive leisure club boasts a range of facilities and is open to both holidaymakers and local members.

As well as a 20m indoor heated swimming pool, it features a sauna and steam room - a great place to relax, unwind and switch off.

It is also home to the Penny Yarnold Swim School, which offers swimming lessons, aqua fit and parent and baby classes. Other activities on offer include paddle board yoga and fitness sessions with Bay Paddle Boarding, and they have relationships with other local swim and sports coaches.

Membership prices start at just £13.50 a month - £12.50 if you pay up front for the whole year - with a range of flexible options. Members can also enjoy discounted entry to the gym at New Body Fitness in Bridport.

West Dorset Leisure Holidays

West Dorset Leisure Holidays is a family run business and celebrated 50 years at Highlands End last year and has recently won Holiday Park of The Year at the Dorset Tourism Awards, with Golden Cap, another of their parks nearby at Seatown, winning the silver award in the same category.

It is a big local employer - with vacancies available now - as well as a vital fundraiser, with holidaymakers helping it raise £100,000 for the Jurassic Coast Trust since 2008.

This winter is the first it has opened for touring caravans and motorhomes year-round at Highlands End, which has proved very popular and has brought people to support local businesses and pubs during the winter months.
