It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Tree lights up Harbour Green in West Bay

Although the usual ceremony of carols, festive treats and a resident of Harbour House having the honour of turning on the lights could not happen this year, Harbour Green in West Bay is not going without a Christmas tree.

West Bay Days' Christmas Tree on the Green event was a quiet affair this year with a small group of people watching the Christmas light switch-on this afternoon (Wednesday).

The Reverend Philip Ringer thanked harbourmaster James Radcliffe and his team, as well as Spar at West Bay, which sponsored the tree this year.

Neil Barnes, of West Bay Days, said: "It's a shame the restrictions meant we couldn't have our usual ceremony with mince pies, mulled wine and carols.

"But despite not having the ceremony, we think people will be able to take pleasure in seeing it and hopefully it is a sign of things to come."

The group has been unable to raise money for local charities this year but hopes its annual Pirate Day and Bonfire on the Beach will be able to go ahead next year.
