It's Bridport Carnival week! Here's what's happening around the town

The countdown has begun for Bridport Carnival and Torchlight with a week of events taking place across the town
The countdown has begun for Bridport Carnival and Torchlight with a week of events taking place across the town

It's officially carnival week, with a range of events leading up to the main procession and torchlight.

There's darts, competitions, bingo, a quiz, music and much more taking place in venues across the town.

Here's what's happening, when and where:

  • Monday, August 15 - crowning of Bridport Carnival royalty at Bridport Arts Centre from 1.30pm
  • Tuesday, August 16 - carnival quiz at The Ropemakers pub from 7.30pm
  • Wednesday, August 17 - carnival bingo at Bridport Football Club, eyes down at 7pm.
  • Thursday, August 18 - Battle of the Buskers, a new event for non-professionals at Bridport Rugby Club from 6pm. There is a £250 cash prize
  • Friday, August 19 - darts competition at Bridport Football Club, sign on from 7pm
  • Saturday, August 20 - crabbing competition at the Angling Centre, sign on from 10.45am
  • Saturday, August 20 - music from the Wessex Band in Bucky Doo Square from 10am
  • Saturday, August 20 - carnival procession from 7pm
  • Saturday, August 20 - dancing in Bucky Doo Square until late
  • Sunday, August 21 - torchlight procession, torches on sale from 6pm with the procession moving off at 9pm
  • Sunday, August 21 - dancing on East Beach as the procession arrives in West Bay, followed by a firework display
